Business Opportunities in Brazil

With 96 percent of the world's consumers living outside U.S. borders, it makes sense for manufacturers to fulfill those needs and grow through exports. One region in particular that manufacturers may want to consider is Brazil, host of the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.

To help manufacturers participate in the global marketplace, The Tri-State World Trade Network and the Small Business Development Center on May 3 hosted a seminar on Business Opportunities in Brazil with guest speakers Andrew Reinke, with Foreign Targets, and Moreira Preto, with Arpol Red Spot Tintas.

Brazil is the eighth largest exporting destination in Indiana, Reinke said, and it has the world's sixth largest economy. The top exports from Indiana include chemicals, transportation equipment and computer and electronic equipment.

Preto, a Brazilian national, gave an overview of the the culture of his homeland. Lunches often last two hours, he said, but when work begins employees work very lean.
