Rules- Impact of the Jump Start Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act
The Southwest Indiana Small
Business Development Center (SWISBDC) is the exclusive host of this
video conference present by Indianapolis based Barnes & Thornburg. Each
month a different topic is presented that introduces revolutionary
thinking on how business is done today and how it will be done in the
future. June's topic is the impact of the Jump Start Our Business
Startups (JOBS) act. Date: 6/1/12

Advancing Hoosier
Women In Business- Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman
The SWISBDC, YWCA and the Indiana Office of Rural
Affairs will host the Advancing Hoosier Women In Business event. This
event will begin with an address from Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman
and will follow with a panel of discussion with successful women in
business from southwest Indiana. Panel will include: Kim Derk -
Owner of Behavior Net Works, Kathy Boyd - Owner of Boyd
Electric, Amy Kroeger - Outreach Ministries and
Ava Demps and Kimberly Hinton - Mary &
Martha's Catering- operators of YWCA Tea Room. The keynote address will
be delivered by Susan Hardwick, vice president,
controller and assistant treasurer for the Vectren Corporation.
Dr. Robert Dion, associate professor of Political Science for
the University of Evansville will be the moderator for the event. This
event will highlight the impact of women in business and sure as
inspiration to other business owners and potential business owners.
Seating is limited. Lunch will be provided.

The Art
of Sustainability- Strengthening the Arts and Nonprofits in Our
Community
This event will help local artists
identify what makes their product unique in the market place, how to
demonstrate that to patrons, and effectively deliver their message
across a variety of platforms. Rich Meyer
from the Technical Assistance Program at Purdue University will
guide this intensive portion of the event. Representatives from the
SWISBDC and the Indiana Nonprofit Resource Network will present
information on business planning for success, organizational
sustainability, and legal issues will also be covered in regards to
artists, art teachers, art's organizations and other non profit
organizations. The event will wrap up with an example of a hip, cool
and talked-about event for a reasonable amount of money.
